Someone said that “if the dprk were so good, then why are people escaping?” What’s a good response?
Hard to know without knowing the context.
Every country has its emigrants, and western countries are no exception. I lived outside of my home country for a long time myself. I don’t think people moving away from their home country is good evidence that that country is awful, when there are many possible reasons behind such decisions.If you want a less nuanced response, ask if DPRK is so bad, then why does South Korea not allow their citizens to go there? If DPRK is so bad, then why did US and South Korean troops defect to go live there? Why do hundreds of DPRK defectors return? Why has South Korea made it illegal for DPRK defectors to return? No one claims that DPRK is so utopian and good that people would never want to leave.
