If you were on Reddit in March 2021, you might remember talks of a “coup” on r/antifastonetoss.

I am not on Reddit since 2019 but I noticed my post about comic templates is still pinned to the top (hasn’t moved in the two years I’ve created the sub). So I took this opportunity to edit the description of the first picture and set the record straight on the “coup” that never was.

You can read my statement here: https://imgur.com/a/qkmGfxb.

This is all I can do as I am not on Reddit anymore, to make my statement and verify my identity. I’m also posting the album here as a second factor of verification, as I made this account back when my alt, ChanceCurrent, was not suspended. I might even have made this lemmygrad account before CriticalResist8 on Reddit was suspended. I made a post on AST with that account telling people to join our lemmygrad community. This should verify that I am indeed the founder of Antifastonetoss.

I’m not regularly on Reddit, so I don’t remember any talks, but the AutoModerator message confuses me. Why does /r/antifastonetoss ally with some weird “anti-tankie” subreddits (like, look at the last four especially) to the point of AutoModerator listing them on every post?

EDIT: Also, why is this EricG50 person a mod?

Eric was brought on during the opening up of the mod team, after I had left. If you look at the mod list on Reddit (requires an account now), you can see a clear border between the “old” and the “new” team; where all the old team was modded 2 years ago and the new team starts at 9 months ago.

Eric is a radlib and I’ve been told he’s defended drone strikes in the past. Just to give you an idea what kind of person he is. I haven’t checked myself because I don’t use Reddit but it must be in his history.

There is a certain irony in him saying, on the one hand, that “tankies” (they can’t agree what a tankie is) are allowed on the subreddit, just that genocide denial isn’t, and then pulling shit like this with the other hand. I don’t think he’s clueless (though from what little interaction I’ve had with him he certainly seemed like it), he knows exactly what he’s doing. Keep up the appearances of letting everyone in (because doing otherwise would be authoritarian), but in reality carefully navigate who is allowed and who is not. There are no more MLs on that subreddit exactly because it’s not a welcoming environment for them – just look at anything Eric posts.

This is actually exactly why I wrote rule 2 a long time ago, so that anarchists would stop pushing MLs away because it was getting ridiculous. At its lowest point, anything or anyone that mentioned Marx or marxism was driven away by holier-than-thou anarchists and radlibs (to be honest it’s really hard to tell the difference most of the time) Vaushites used it against the mod team afterwards because supposedly it protected them. In my opinion, as Vaush is not a communist and shares fascist sympathies (like when he laughed at a transphobic stonetoss comic for one), his stans are not communist either and thus are not protected under rule 2.

The thing is that the mod team hasn’t really changed since I left the discord, I’m just guessing most of the team doesn’t care or isn’t on Reddit any more.

I can assure you that if I was still head mod I would get rid of these milquetoast liberal mods and restore some order. If Vaushites want to leave the subreddit en masse then good riddance. That was a huge point of contention when the discussions were going on, some mods being afraid that it would drive users away. But if Vaushites leave, then the sub will heal all the better.

There are some anarchists in the mod team and like I said in the album, we’ve always been able to work together. But I only have experience with the old team.

If they want the decaying carcass of antifastonetoss they can have it. I would not wish for anyone to become a Reddit moderator and I would never go back to it. When I was a mod we’d grow by 5000 to 10000 users per month. Now they are sitting still at 80000 users (I could have sworn it was much bigger before but maybe I’m making this memory up). I left at 60k subscribers, and I can see there are barely 1 or 2 new submissions a day. So let them have it. Let them fuck it up and then blame the tankies for it.
