    It does have some backstory, those five colours represented the 5 “main races” on china. The thing is, China has a lot more ethinys then just five, so this also emplied China did not recognize said other races. Its an overral bad flag that failed miserably to stand against the manchu supremacy of the quing dinasty, and failed to represent any type of union on China.

        No, it is about the 5 races, the red represent the “Han”, the Yellow represent the Manchu, the blue represents the mongols, the white represents the Hui (chinese muslins), and the black represents the Tibetans.
