Yes, the ba’ath parties on arabic countries are basically an socialist, pan arabic, anti-imperialist, secularist movement adpted to the situation on arabic countries. The most important Ba’athists leaders where Nasser, Gadaffi, Saddam, and they have baathist goverments while they lasted.

Nasser and Gadaffi weren’t Ba’athist, They were Arab socialist but a different kind I think Ba’athism was only in Saddam’s Iraq and Syria

          • Yeah during his period it was basically like that, but the thing I dislike about him is his treatment for Berbers (I don’t remember if he did any genocides but he banned the language) and his goofy ah unpredictable ass either clowning like the one time he wanted to divide Switzerland, or dropping the realest shit like his speech after Saddam was gone predicting the Arab spring, Other than that he was really good and shouldn’t have been couped

Wasnt Gaddaffi a berber himself? Which is why he often slept in tents, he was proud of his berber culture?

Edit: My bad, he was a bedouin, not a berber

Only Assad in Syria and Saddam in Iraq were baathist. Nasser was a nasserist (same as baathism but he rejected class struggle, so it was utopian socialist, which is why it failed after Nasser died in 1970 and Egypt became a capitalist proUS regime). Gaddaffi was originally a nasserist but after nasserism collapsed in the 1970s he developed his own Jamahiriya ideology (explained in his Green Book, Hakim has a video on it) which is basically marxism leninism but without a vanguard party, he advocated direct democracy instead with no parties, and he promoted a Yugoslavia like economy, a very state directed market economy focused on workers self managed cooperatives.

Yes. His party, the Arab Socialist Baath Party, is a scientific socialist (heavily based off marxism leninism), panarabist (he wants to unite all arab countries into 1 arab nation state), antiimperialist and antizionist party. Both Assads syrian baath party and Saddam Husseins iraqi baath party (RIP) were scientific socialists and very close allies of the USSR while it existed. To learn more on this i highly recommend this presentation on baathist ideology and history:
