white people mad no matter what but i do think that the teachers need to be educated on what critical race theory actually is. educators themselves need to be taught anti-racist education so that it can be properly taught in a way kids can understand. that would require amerikkka actually caring about combatting racism though…

Critical race theory is the idea that the most important thing about you is your race. Not your values or ideas, but the color of your skin. Racism will eventually die with the ignorance that spawned it. But to immerse yourself in the idea that race is the only identifier with ultimately prolong the separation we face today. We have to get rid of resentment that we hold towards certain cultures and learn to forgive. That does not mean you have to forget, but dont remember with hate in your heart. Ease don’t allow the system to divide us further by some socially engineered lesson.

Western racists will never care about CRT because it goes against their bloody culture of centuries of entitled supremacy.

Those Brit tw*** colonised us for 2 centuries.

Edit: some Anglo supremacists lurking here

    Edit: censored that word

I agree with your sentiment, but can you remove the word t*at from your comment? It violates the slurs rule but somehow managed to get past the filter. Thanks.

Do we have to add it? Afaik its not nearly as bad as other words on the hardcoded filter. Maybe just block it on lemmy.ml via config file?

True yeah we could just add it to the custom one. I’ll do that now.

We removed some words from the slur filter a while ago to decrease the chance for false positives, and simplify it. You can find the PR on github.

Should also make us think how many and which words should be put in the filter. This stuff is hard with so many slurs with varying degree.

Agreed, it would be good to have a discussion on this topic. Note that we have two different slur filters now, one hardcoded in Lemmy, and one in the config file which can be changed by the instance admin.

Oh it had been removed from the Slur Filter? TBH where I come from, That Word is very mild, very normal in conversation. But I guess people use words differently in different cultures. It must be painful to try to make a list which is appropriate for an international userbase. It might even be impossible.

Last time we had this debate, someone had a very good idea -

Using tags. You can have a tag like “controversial” or “free-speech” or whatever. People who don’t like hearing those words will never see those posts.

IMO this is the only way to solve it. So the Danish speakers and the people who get emotional about atrocities, and everyone else, they can co-exist.

Someone buy that the user who thought of it a beer.
