Bought Bio-Apples today, poured them with boiled water and found that they are wax-coated.

Do you know a way to make sure you are buying not wax-coated ones?

How widely spread such thing is, is it the same on farmers markets?

    It may not be common at farmers markets, but what’s your issue with the wax? It should be edible, and helps keep the moisture in the apple.

      when something has bio in it’s name, something artificial is not expected especially made of oil and with other stuff not mentioned at all.

        Fruit wax is made of esters. It’s an old practice. Apples only look the way everyone thinks they look because of that wax. The wax not only keeps the moisture sealed in, but it also keeps insects and fungus off of them.

          I’m not pretending to be an expert in this field (discovered this just recently), but any artificial stuff used by producers to achieve their goals without making it transparent and obvious for me as a customer, makes it suspicious in my eyes.
          Why just not print wax type/ingredients on the packaging if it is safe?

          What I know for sure, is that producer solves his problems, makes apples more attractive, but we are eating wax 🤷‍♀️
