    Many of the conflicts take place in the Kivu region near the Rwandan border. Many cobalt mines are located in this region. Cobalt is used for making batteries of, for example, phones and electric vehicles. Many of which go to Western countries.

    It yet again comes to no surprise that wealth in other parts of the world come at the cost of the lives in the Global South. A just climate transition means giving authority back to the people of the Global South.
