Comrades, what do yous recommend curious boomers when they ask you where they can get ‘real news’ from? I’ve been asked a number of times over the past couple months, but I feel like my general answer falls a bit flat because imo it’s not so much the source you read as it is about how you read it and which context you’re approaching it from. And that’s all good and well, but like what are they actually going to do with that lol?

Man is there anyone more exhausting to discuss with than lawyers/law students? They have to relate every god damn point back to law. A moral question? But the law says. An economic question? But the law says. Something regarding to sports? But the law says. They’re a walking is-ought fallacy.
Yes, laws touch every aspect of our lives - doesn’t mean I’m going to base my understanding of the world on what is law and besides you can think about topics divorced from their legal background. We don’t have to discuss antitrust laws to say Elon Musk is a piece of shit ffs.
Laws are there to protect the wealthy as well. Just because it’s law doesn’t mean you are right about every single thing.
I had some law people in my ex’s family and they were seen as some holy peak of moralism for some reason. Some of them defended huge companies. Moral my ass.

I hope this won’t get me problems here, but today I got banned from the genzedong discord because I shared a sexist meme. I guess it’s understandable.
This server really meant a lot to me, it’s the only place beside Lemmy were I can be with people who I feel are like me. If someone here is an admin on the discord I hope that you could give me a chance to sort this out. Even if I’m not to post anything anymore, I just want to have something to stay in touch with the world.
Edit: The main problem is that I don’t actually have any mod’s discord tag, so I’m unable to contact them by myself. I would be very thankful if anyone could link me with one of them.

Lech Wałęsa update: apparently my lib history teacher went to see him give a talk. The way I understood it was he was advocating essentially the balkanization of Russia by turning it into a sort of European Union where the large and unified country of Russia gets broken up into a bunch of pieces in a loose union. Not that the libs haven’t been begging for this for ages but it was surreal hearing it so close to home, I guess.
Funny thing is, this also used to be the talking point of jingoists here in Russia - that them evil gayropeans wish for nothing but to break our beloved Motherland into tiny pieces like their own countries, so they could control them better.
