At the end of the day, it is war between elites, they are both wiling to sacrifice prices for the poorest, at least Russia focuses on its border’s with some of its population within not like with NATO flying over across globe to carpet bomb anti-capitalist countries.
And at least Russia slightly pretends to care about its people and achieves actual material improvements in its population’s lives, and has legitimate reasons for wanting to de-nazify Ukraine.
Russia went through 70 years of socialism, and then experienced 10+ years of capitalism at its absolute worst. That does something to the consciousness of a people. Russian elites probably know that they can’t push the Russian people around too much, otherwise the people might start doing Very Bad Things to them.
