Information about the situation on Azovstal from @wargonzo project: UN/ICRC-backed evacuation of civilians from Azovstal. We talked to several sources directly from the negotiation team and colleagues who are have first hand information. Here is the situation at the moment. 77 UN-buses arrived. Not everyone entered the factory. Russians agreed to let through only the number that is necessary for the declared number of civilians. The first 25 people who left evacuated on their own, not as part of the upcoming humanitarian action. Later, another 20 came out, they were taken to Bezymyannoye for filtration. The militants, holding the remaining civilians hostage, are trying to bargain. They almost demand seats in buses, even with weapons. Our position, at least at this stage, is categorical. Only civilians. And only through filtering. No cat and mouse games with neo-Nazis. We hope it stays this way. There’re no reasons not to show integrity. Negotiations are ongoing. All this differs little from the conditional “Nord-Ost”, Beslan and the hospital captured by Basayev. Exactly same picture. Note, however, that the information we have collected is not official.
