LockPickingLawyer’s video on this is a bit better IMO, as he is much more direct. But I’ll do a text explanation for those who can’t watch a video, or for those who would rather not link from a communist website to a google tracked website.

Magnets, how do they work? Inside the lock is a magnetic locking pawl, and all you need is a strong enough magnet to move the pawl far enough to you can apply inwards force on the lock, apply a twisting motion, and remove the lock. I’ll go further, because this is a community that approves of theft. The beep-y bois in the front of the store are magnets, they look for a magnetic signal to go off. If you’re carrying in a magnet, you’re going to have to be very careful with where you store the magnet on your person, because you might just flag yourself in your effort to pop out unnoticed. Also, after you’ve removed the tag, do not forget to hide it well. If a worker happens to see a loose tag on the racks, or on the floor, they’re probably going to call security, and you’ve probably just made things harder for future lifters. Throw the tag away, put it somewhere high, dump it inside a promotional thingy, whatever it takes.

LockPickingLawyer seems like a great channel, just shared one of his videos on this.

Another thing I suppose you could do with regards to tags after you have removed them in the store; put it/them inside a small foil lined booster bag and walk out. It seems that would be more discreet than putting the entire item in a booster bag, as it would only really need to be a small pouch. But definitely make sure that it is wrapped up well with no tears and is not visible or audible especially as you leave the store. Then just dispose of the pouch after leaving. That way there would be no tag for a worker to find.

I often link LPL to people who are looking to learn less than legal means of gaining access to objects. his videos are very direct, waste no time, are easy to understand, and he doesn’t cover or restrict anything useful. I personally lean more towards the “lawful while lawless” side of doing illegal shit, and channels like LPL are really fuckin useful for upping my abilities with that.
