    This is great. Especially if this stifles the supply to Western military industrial complex. It would be good leverage for China. Especially when it comes to keeping manufacturing within their boundaries.

    I feel though that new sources could be discovered in the rest of the world.

      The key is that it takes time to build up capacity. While it will be possible to create supply chains outside of China eventually, there is no viable alternative in the coming years.

      Given the fact that capitalist economies already struggling due to covid and rare earth supplies are operating on very thin margins this gives China huge economic leverage over the west. Western capitalism may well collapse before new capacity can be developed.

      Yes. There are many other sources which have been discovered since but they are unable to compete with the Chinese mine. Export bans probably will not do much useful and I assume most of the dependent nations have already accumulated large stockpiles.

      The Western Fake News MSM has spent years talking about this and still none of the various nations have actually done anything substantial about it. Acting on these paranoid stories will probably be very expensive since these new mines will need to be subsidized
