    The thing with seeing these things and going “OMG Star Trek is about to become real” is that they’re micro-scale or even quantum effects. AKA, tiny. Like, smaller than a single cell tiny. You can do plenty of sci-fi things at such scales already. Whether it’s possible to scale them up to the macro-scale, like the size of a human vehicle, is the real problem.

      True, the problem is the energy required to extrapolate it to a manned spacecraft, but the experiment shows that the theory of a WARP propulsion is possible. NASA is currently experimenting with applying this system to nanobots to use them to explore the universe, that is to say, we are certainly centuries of an application in manned spacecraft, but this does not mean that the energy required may be affordable for nanoscale bots. Meanwhile I believe in Clarke’s first law
