Agreed. All this does is drive Vietnam into China’s arms. If they can come to a consensus over the South China Sea then it’s just one less hurdle for the Chinese achieving regional hegemony and decisive sovereignty over strategically critical trade waters. First Vietnam, then hopefully the Philippines and Indonesia. All they have to do is look like the better option.
Edit: Also, doesn’t it seem a bit absurd for the US to label everyone else as currency manipulators, when they intentionally enforce a world order where everyone can only buy crude in dollars?
