There was a currency fluctuation and the shop keepers are upset. There were legitimate protests that are nonviolent that are supportive of the government but angry about policy. Then some 5th columnist psychos started rioting and trying to get the shopkeepers involved.

Out of of the horse mouth:

Israeli journalist Zvi Yehezkeli says that Iranian protesters are organized, trained, and guided by foreign intelligence agencies (Mossad / CIA)

He emphasized that Iran’s ethnic diversity provides a suitable environment for intelligence activities.

Basically there were protests (mainly by business-owners) about currency instability (we’re talking thousands in big cities). Nothing drastic happened. Then the next day violent thugs started assaulting police stations with Molotov cocktails (and, in one case, a flamethrower), it’s probably quite clear to most in Iran that those are paid agitators/Mosad assets. It’s not the first time.

When it comes to current events in Iran, I recommend to look for prof. Mohammad Marandi’s interviews on youtube; he’s always there on some progressive/anti-imperialist channel. Here’s one I found where he discusses those protests: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqsy4f0OE8M

I’d ask before on Freechat here if you’d like to look at the few responses.

Though from looking through the Telegram that was linked every so often, I can try to give a small summary:

The protest started out in the Bazaar by shopkeepers requesting the implementation of certain policies (petite bourgeoisie, who had a large impact in the actual Iranian revolution against the Shah). The government met with them to negotiate these policies, and while this happened many university students were inspired to protest as well. The students had demands relating to the head of the central bank at the time, who’d been dismissed 9 months prior for his policies. Calling him corrupt, the students largely demanded that president replaced him and other notably corrupt officials, but centered the strength of the Iranian government as their cause.

Eventually the government agreed to implement the policies for the shop keepers and the as far as I’m aware the head if the central bank has now been replaced. The currency has been devaluing massively due to Iranian economists still largely pulling from Western institutions, and the Iranian bourgeoisie (spearheaded by the reformists) had essentially implanted shock therapy, which is what these protest was triggered by essentially.

While the students and shopkeepers got their demands, foreign assets linked with the US and Israel, began pushing for riots which quickly turned violent. The foreign media is releasing a deluge of disinformation, like claiming certain teenagers and young people have been killed by security forces, which forces the people whose pictures are being used to essentially post videos that say “Hey, I’m not dead, nor have I ever been to the place where the internet is saying I died”. The rioters have guns, molotovs, makeshift flamethrowers, and have been killing the police who are capturing or combating them.

Large pro-government demonstrations have also popped up in opposition to the rioters, as they don’t want the country to be balanced by the US and Israel who are clearly getting ready for something. The shopkeepers who started the protests have put up notice boards condemning the riots and calling for peace.

I also found thus comment on reddit going into some of the policies of the central bank from reddit, but since its not the Grad take it with a grain of salt until someone else here can confirm whether it’s a good analysis or not.
