I studied history for my undergrad, but having suffered through liberalism and chauvinism in my seminars (by both peers and profs) seriously turned me off. I feel that much of academia wrt history is completely useless bourgeois fact finding with the most deranged theoretical lenses that co-opted terminology like “lived experiences” and “bodies” in favour of mind-numbing useless shit like frugal film-making production in East Germany and its relation to historical notions of German femininity (this was a real paper). I’m basically having a midlife crisis since I was certain that academic history was for me.

So my question is the title, and if so, what was it like? Or, do you know anyone who did? All answers welcome.
