Yes, they split off in like 2019, before federation was implemented, they’re about to remerge. They might still not federate though, and if they do it will just be lemmygrad at first

Their admins already spend a lot of their time dealing with wreckers and the like, I get why they’re hesitant. But yes honestly I’d like hexbear to federate to help fight the libs
