I’m talking about deeply held beliefs you have that many might disagree with here or deem to be incompatible with Marxist ideology. I’m interested because I doubt everyone here is an ideological robot who all share the same uniformity in belief

I believe that overpopulation is not necessarily a myth. Yes the problems of today are due to capitalism and not due to overpopulation. We have enough food for 12 billion people, while we’re with 8 billion. That being said however overpopulation can still happen, and that’s why declining world population is not necessarily a problem. If we keep growing we will reach a certain threshold, even if we’re not there yet. There’s also only so much space we can inhabit before disrupting the rest of nature even in a fair society.

    • it’s also important to note that it’s not all about the number of people – the average person in the imperial core consumes far more than most others, but Malthusians seem to ignore this and focus on blaming exploited countries for generally having more children

Yeah but the protagonist run away from that as far as humanly possible and organize some galactic suburbian hellhole with a group of likeminded space Vietnam vets.

While slightly tempting i don’t think i will be a fan, i prefer a book. Thank you nonetheless.

They did a similar thing in The Wanting Seed by Anthony Burgess

Throughout the first portion of the novel, overpopulation is depicted through the limitation and reuse of materials, and extremely cramped living conditions.

There is also active discrimination against heterosexuals, homosexuality being encouraged as a measure against overpopulation. Self-sterilization is also encouraged.
