Even as a Chinese dude with a general understanding of both Chinese international politics and the SMO, I have no idea what he’s up to. Like, I know he knows what he’s doing, but I certainly do not. Ostensibly, this is to promote a peace deal, but China does benefit in some ways from protracted war and from Russian total victory. There are a lot of conspiracy theories.
Weapons sales, peace deal, secret plan to encircle America, conference to notify him of an operation to seize Taiwan, etc. I will not give proof because it does not exist, obviously.
I’d like to note that Xi and Putin talked for 5+ hours today, so I think they’re genuinely talking something very complex over very seriously.
