Porn industry is a very damaging and exploiting industry. Porn itself is not bad, of course. If you want to film yourself having sex and you want to post it on the internet for people to look at, be my guest. I don’t think the morality police is going to stop you.

Patsocs and conservatives wanting to ban porn want to do it for different reasons than MLs for example. No one here want to ban porn because ewww sex is dirty and immoral, MLs want to ban porn as an idustry because the entire industry is rotten to its core.

is it any more damaging than most other industries under capitalism tho? i wonder what porn actors would say about that, ultimately the lets ban porn approach only serves to look down on the people that make it and they are just working people like everyone else. Every industry is rotten to the core under capitalism they all treat their workers like crap and idk it fucking sucks that ML which we are supposed to be on the side of the people are out here being like “nah fuck this industry and everyone that relies on it to survive” again i wonder what the people that make porn would actually say about that attitude.

and before you even say it that no one should have to do sex to survive (or work in general to survive) first off thats patronizing towards sex workers and looks down on them and second yeah you are right in a vacuum, but in reality when you take the anti sex work stance right along side reactionaries all you do is side with them, kinda like when people both sides china and the US libs only hear what they want to hear.

I don’t think anyone here is against the people who rely on it to survive. We’re just against the sex work industry as it exists under capitalism, because it’s incredibly dangerous, exploitative, and coercive, even compared to other industries under capitalism. That is not to say sex work shouldn’t exist. If people want to do it consensually, with no coercion, I don’t think they should be stopped. We’re just against the capitalistic exploitation of people’s bodies and what is, in effect, forcing them to have sex, potentially against their will, because they need money to survive.
