/r/worldnews wants to tell me it’s ‘corruption’ that the IOC doesn’t ban people with Russian backgrounds but I don’t understand the logic. Wouldn’t bowing to western money be the corrupt move?

“Corruption” is when you do things that American capital doesn’t like.

If libs didn’t have double standards, they’d have no standards.

Businesses paying politicians to further their interests? It’s corruption in the rest of the world. It’s “lobbying” in USA.

Athletes using medicine that helps muscles recover after heavy training? It’s evil doping and cheating if it’s Russia. Athletes using asthma medication to boost their skiing performance? Athletes popping Adderall like it’s candy? Perfectly fine if it’s Norway, USA, others.

Athletes using asthma medication to boost their skiing performance?

Like seriously, in the last winter olympics and the one before it even official polish commenters were sneering about that, how some countries are unable to find healthy people to do sports and are sending only asthmatics, and for endurance based sports no less.

But would you look at that - no bans, no screeching in media, nothing. Meanwhile when an officially cleared Russian athlete under a neutral flag wins, the loser whines in an interview that it was cheating.

Liberals are not known to be particularly intelligent; don’t bother with trying to understand them
