Btw is that true that the US SC can literally strike down any law? They just also hit even the placeholder green law imitation and dems are screaming they can’t do anything about it?

The Supreme court is supreme. Congress can pass statutes which contradict the supreme court rulings, but the supreme court could rule against the statute

Well i always wondered why they even keep that bizarre medieval law system. Probably bacause of that, and of course to turn it into the arcane knowledge held by the literal lawyer caste in the service of the ruling class. Fun fact: i believe groups holding the power which operate on this base, were traditionally called “mandarins” in a derogative sense by the western media since XIX century.

How can even libs call this “democracy”, especially happening en masse right before their eyes, is beyond me.

Constitutional amendments have to be ratified by 2/3 of the states. The ruling class is too polarized to get this done for either party.

In this case, Congress will have to pass a law banning abortion nationwide. The role of the supremes will be to uphold this Republican edict, not create it.

They will wait till 2024 since if i get the news right, republicans will probably win both congress and president, not to mention current administration is so unhinged that a lot of shit will probably hit the fan in the meantime.

I’m not sure if even the Republicans are dumb enough to pass this kind of law. The country would collapse, and this would not materially benefit the ruling class.

I mean they finally took the dems not codifying it into the law as invitation, and overturning WvR now is a trial run. Dems seems to capitlulate, i think they are even glad, they are rich enough that the abortion ban won’t ever touch them personally, and it is excellent ammo for election, and i also don’t see any rioting nor any other loud action from anywhere else. This is giving republicans a sign - do what you want, nothing will collapse except perhaps some reddit subs.

Part of the problem they create when they win is that they have to invent a new culture war narrative. Republicans don’t really want to win on this issue in the same way that democrats never wanted to codify Roe.

That being said, the GOP is off the rails and has swung so far right that I don’t believe they can stop themselves from making this mistake.
