I learnt about this finding out of Finland from a study with thousands of participants over 20 years a few weeks ago. I share it here as I think it can help us improve our longevity.

Basically I set up this community to collect research and info about the Health Benefits of Saunas. If you are interested, I would probably start from the bottom (oldest links to newest links)

When you think how quickly the cost of supplements add up over the years - it might make the investment in an in home sauna worthwhile.

Hope you find this interesting.

Or could it be that those that can afford to often take saunas are part of a more privileged milieu and thus have access to better healthcare and are less likely to live in environments with a lot of carcinogens (e.g. not close to an industrial park).

I suspected that at first myself, but in Finland Saunas are very common.

The research showed that there were 3 variables that made a big difference:

      • temperature 177 F degrees
      • time 20 minutes
      • frequency 4 to 7 times a week.

So even if you had a sauna, you would not achieve the same drop in all cause mortality if you were using lower temperatures, less frequency, etc.

Have a read of the research, it is very interesting.
